NUANS Report

The Alberta corporate name search (NUANS) will determine if your desired company name is available for use. We will pre-search your first choice, and if it is unavailable, we will proceed to your next alternative name at no additional cost. Search results will be sent to the provided email address within one working day.

Once you’ve decided to incorporate, the first step is to choose a name for your corporation. Names should be unique and have the following three elements:
• Distinctive - A distinctive element is a unique word or location that makes your company name different from others, for example “Lethbridge” in Lethbridge Vehicle Licensing and Registry Ltd.
• Descriptive - A descriptive element describes what the corporation does, for example, “Vehicle Licensing and Registry” is the descriptive element in Lethbridge Vehicle Licensing and Registry Ltd.
• Legal - Alberta corporations generally end with the word 'Limited' or 'Ltd.' but you may also choose to use ‘Incorporated’, ‘Inc.’, ‘Corporation’, or, ‘Corp.’.
